The Imaging Technology Group (ITG) provides sophisticated microscopy, spectroscopy, and visualization (including macrophotography, ultra-high-speed imaging, and custom journal covers/figures) facilities, as well as a comprehensive list of 2- and 3-D image-analysis software packages, for researchers at the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, other universities, startups, and industry. Its secondary mission is to develop advanced imaging technologies with an emphasis on projects in remote instrument control and novel types of scientific visualization.
