Created 11/30/2004

The photograph shows a three-dimensional model of the artist's lungs. The data was captured on an MRI at Carle Hospital in Urbana. The data was analyzed, the lungs segmented, and the model produced using Analyze, a software package in the VMIL used for working with 3D volumetric datasets. Once the model was created, it was printed using the VMIL's color-capable 3D printer, the Z Corp Z406. The model was produced as an art piece as part of a body of work that focuses on the internal landscape of her own body. The work was first exhibited at the Krannert Art Museum in Champaign, IL. It will be on display in Miami at Art Basel from Dec. 2-5, 2004, and is currently planned for exhibition at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago, IL in 2005.
