Mosquito Stylet
Media Details
Created 10/07/2008
SEM image of critical point dried (from ethanol) female mosquito, showing separated mouth parts. The six internal components of the mouth parts are normally bundled tightly together and termed stylets; together they make up the fascicle, which penetrates the skin. One stylet is shown in the inset. Mosquito provided by Annie Ray.
