Thousands of images of the scores, notes, calculations and writings of Herbert Brun 1918-2000, composer, thinker and professor of music at the University of Illinois, Urbana since 1963, are being made using the Canon EOS 1Ds camera in the Visualization, Media, and Imaging Laboratory. Brun is known internationally for his compositions using traditional instruments and also for his accomplishments making some of the earliest uses of electronic sound generation and computers for music composing and realization, and for an extensive project of computer executed graphic art. His lectures and writings on the function of composition and music in society are widely influential over several generations and in many parts of the world. This imaging project is made possible in conjunction with many of Brun's friends, colleagues, students, family, and the Herbert Brun Society, in order to provide a resource of his work in Urbana after the originals of this material are sent to Brun's permanent archive at the Akademie der Kunste in Berlin, Germany.
