Cercocebus Monkey
Media Details
Created 01/28/2003
X-rays of Cercocebus monkeys have been acquired over a period of five years in an effort to gauge brain development via measurement of cranial capacity. This monkey, named "Harlequin", is one of several participating in the experiment. By scanning the developed X-rays digitally, measurements may be acquired with much greater precision, in less time, and with significantly decreased wear on the original. The entire collection of images will be cropped, processed, and included on a CD for future use. The UMAX Mirage IIse large format scanner (11" x 17", 1400dpi) with associated transparency adapter was used to acquire these images.
